The King V Code is South Africa\u2019s 2025 corporate governance benchmark. Published by the IoDSA<\/a>, it sets an outcomes driven standard for how organisations are expected to govern ethics, performance, risk, technology, transparency, and legitimacy. Under King V, organisations must not only apply governance principles but also show how their decisions produce value in practice.<\/p>\n

Corporate governance in South Africa has always been adaptive. Over time, the various iterations of the King Reports have shaped how boards understand their duties, how accountability is exercised, and how trust is earned across the South African economy. The King V Code continues that lineage but reflects a country where value is increasingly digital, risk is interconnected, and institutions must make their decisions observable.<\/p>\n

King V shifts governance toward evidence<\/h2>\n

The core evolution in King V is outcomes. Governance is not defined by what organisations say they will do. It is now judged by what their decisions result in. Proof replaces intention.<\/p>\n
